Why does my pet need a preventive?

Parasite infections are relatively common, so protecting your pet from its effects is essential. Before determining which parasite prevention plan is best for your pet, we'll assess factors like their health status, time spent outdoors, and location. These medications come in various forms, such as topical creams, injections, and tablets. They provide your pet with broad-spectrum protection against internal and external parasites like:

  • Heartworms
  • Tapeworms
  • Whipworms
  • Hookworms
  • Heartworms
  • Ticks and fleas

What happens if my pet misses a dosage?

When your pet is taking a preventive, please follow the prescription closely. For example, monthly preventives should be given around the same time for each dosage to provide the most effectiveness. If your pet misses a dose, this could leave a window of opportunity for parasites. Getting your pet tested before resuming their preventive or starting a new medication ensures it won't have any adverse effects, especially if they already have an infection.
