Victoria Veterinary Technician

I graduated from the Northern College Veterinary Technician program with honours in June 2025. Throughout technician school and so far in my career I’ve felt very passionate about surgery and anesthesia. Surgery is very fascinating to me and I really enjoy the pharmacological and physiological parts of it.

I chose the pathway of veterinary medicine because I’ve always been very passionate and had a deep love for animals since I was little. I grew up surrounded by animals, with my own animals and family/friends animals. I’ve always wanted to go into a science and medicine related field. So veterinary medicine checked all the boxes for me. Before I went to college to become a veterinary technician I did a high school co-op at Georgetown Animal Clinic to introduce myself to the field. Watching the RVT’s care for the patients everyday and being able to jump in the action whenever I could, really solidified that this is the career for me.

What I love most about the field is that animals are the most thankful patients, and it is so rewarding knowing I can help advocate and be a voice for animals as a career. And knowing I can help owners as well, whether that be through providing answers to questions or giving support and reassurance through difficult times.

I am currently working towards getting my registration in the Fall. In the future I would like to further my education and become certified in companion animal physical rehabilitation to be able to help patients with more complex cases where extra recovery is needed.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my 1 year old rescue dog, Bentley. My family adopted from a local rescue, he was found on the streets in Saint Martin as a puppy. He is full of energy and keeps us all very entertained and busy. I also enjoy hanging out with friends, baking, painting and hiking.
